Hello everyone, hate to make my first post aquestion but I'm sooo stressed.
Before I start my knowledge of all things relating to Wii, internet etc is very low so please be patient..thanks I wanted to play my Wii online so bought a Netgear WGR614 wireless router from Virgin (well ebay!!). My PC is not wireless and I use Virgin Media Broadband (If this helps). Today the package arrived and off I went...No instructions!! I plugged it in and clicked Internet on the Wii..so far so good Went to connection setting and choose wireless Search for an access point and up popped Virgin Broadband...clicked that and then thr problems start!! Got WPA-PSK (TKIP) This access point is secure Input Password or key I have no idea what password, where i get it from or what the WPA-PSK means..so like any novice i clicked 'OK' and saved the settings. The wii did a connection test and an error 51330 came up. I ahve since looked on many sites where some say check the channel of the router but I have no idea what they mean. Also all i did with the router was plug it in, did I need to do anything with it Thanks and please help it's been 4 hours Also from googling I think the box should of had a disc included but not sure if that makes a difference Last edited by st.dave; 01-26-2009 at 09:47 AM. |

I use a wireless router connected to 1 desktop, 1 laptop, 1 PS3, and was previously connected to my Wii.
I've established my own network to all my components, with WEP security. I tried to connect my Wii to the router (I gave the WEP code and everything) and it still says it cannot connect. The error message does give me an error code (does it matter? I don't remember it either way). I don't understand what's going on!! I used to play online with my Wii when it was connected before the same way! Any help appreciated! -H |

Hello,
I'm having trouble with getting my Wii on the internet... I worked before (some 6 months ago) but then I moved him to a new place, now I put back at the same place it worked before but the internet doesn't work anymore... I keep getting error 51030, my internet router is a Sweex LW055 and there's no security on it... I already read a lot of topics concerning this error and have already tried many things, but none seem to work I already checked the SSID for 1 milion times, changed the primairy and secondairy DNS, I have tried with changing the channel on my router, I have checked if the Mac filtering is off - it is, already tried to update the firmware, no effect... I'm really desperate, anyone any ideas? Last edited by Raidlos; 02-01-2009 at 09:15 AM. |

I am really not sure which thread to place this question into, but I figure this is as good as any :P
I have been playing Mario Karts online since I got the game, but today I go to play online, and it stalls when it is searching for opponents. I have done a few things to try and fix this, like resetting my settings for my wireless connection, resetting my router and turning on and off my console. All other online applications work just fine. Is there anything I can do about this, I have read of others that have had this problem for like 2 months!! Eeek, I don't think I can live without Mario Karts for 2 months! Im desperate, if you have any answers please let me know! Thanks in advance... Jen

HELP
I need to hard wire my wii to the internet, I have the USB LAN adapter and a filter on my phone socket. The wii manual says I need a modem and a router, but will any of the netgear or other make modem/routers work? Do I just purchase one of these modem routers and hook it up between my splitter and USB LAN adapter and then follow the manual to connect online? Thanks in advance for the help! Lee I was thinking of purchasing this router: Is this compatible? Last edited by ltempest; 02-02-2009 at 08:55 AM. Reason: added additional info |

you can connect your Wii up to the internet via a network cable ( the blue cable that you can see comming out of your current PC). just run one end of the cable from your Wii to a spare port on your motorolla router ( the internet modem thing) by the sounds of things your in australia? any Pc shop should be able to help you out with network cables.
you can connect the Wii to the internet via wireless also. for this you will wither need a wireless internet connection, or as you stated above a WiFi USB dongle. people on here dont seem to like the WiFi dongles as they have had a heap of problems with them.. but i havent had any . the user manual that came with the Wii should be able to guide you through connecting it up to the net aswell.

With that said, I check the internet connect using my laptop connected to the Ethernet USB adapter, disconnect it and plug the USB adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii. All the lights come on just like when my Laptop is connect and working. I tired the wired setting using DHCP and tried a static IP but I get an error 51420. Now I know that most devices come with the Drivers for these type of devices “USB Ethernet to USB” all ready load. I would like to know if there is a list of KNOWN devices that work with the Wii. |
