You'll need it if the modem is also not wireless.

You can either get another modem that is wireless as well, buy a seperate wireless router, or buy the LAN adapter where you will need the ethernet cable.

Then you will not need an ethernet cable to connect your Wii to the internet.

yeah, its close (like 10 feet, no walls) when i check for connections on my wii, it shows nothing

Have you tried looking into your modem settings and seeing if wireless is on?

Try typing in your IP address.

Not sure what it is but try 192.168.1.1. Type that number into your web address. If nothing happens then try finding out your Ip address by going to whatsmyip.org and type that number into your web address.

Ok. Try using that number, your IP address, into your web address and see where it takes you. If it doesn't work then try going to either one of these sites.
