I have been trying to connect my WII for the last week to the internet with no luck. It finds my router(linksys BEFW11S4 V4) but when it tries to test the connection I get an error. I think I have tried everything to the router ,changing the broadcast to 1, 11. manually setting the dns server but no luck please help!!!.

Alright... after days of searching here and google, trial and error, and general hair pulling, it's time to solicit some advice.

I can not seem to get anything working right, and havn't found a thread to cover the issue. If there is one, a link would be great and sorry for the poor search skills...

Without any further ado... the issue:

I am trying to get online (obviously) and cannot seem to make any headway. First, my current hardware setup:

Sprint EDVO Sierra Wireless AirCard 585E (USB Card) ---> Dell Lappy ---> CAT6 Crossover ---> Nintendo LAN Adapter ---> Wii

Nintendo seemingly offers no support for setting up this way, only to use LanAdapter from router (non existant in my setup).I have read posts here and there that confirm this is possible... but I am achieving no success. When trying Auto-Obtain IP, I get ERROR 52022.

I run IPCONFIG/ALL and get two sets of IPS etc... one for Sierra/Sprint connection, one for LAN connection. Manually entering either of these IP sets I also get errors.

I believe that my LAN between Wii and PC is not solid because the little icon on bottom right of monitor for that connection says limited or no connectivity. Anybody have any advice or thorough steps to set up ICS between the two properly? I know I'm missing something.

Sorry so long, just thought it best to more thorough than "I cant get online... HELP!!!111"

Thanks in advance, I cant wait to get my ass whooped in Kart.

Ok... so about 5 min. after posting this I got it. Made me feel pretty stupid. Was really really easy. If anybody has questions about this setup feel free to ask away or PM...

...now if I could only get somebody to play with... On to the friend thread!

You should try the lan adapter or the usb wifi connecter.

I guess you could say it is basically a modem? It plugs in to the USB port, allowing internet access through Sprint's cellular network. In esscence, Sprint is my ISP. EDVO is a 3G technology so data transfer is pretty quick. Download speed anywhere from 350kbps-2.2mbps.

This is also why I have no router... while they do make routers that accept usb input for internet connection, they are pretty costly (i'm told $300+). Instead I opted to use a crossover out of my laptop to connect to Wii. Turns out I was correct in orignal post in that the problem was with the ICS. To fix, I cleared all settings and ran "New Connection Wizard" and when I was done, it all worked. Should have done this to begin with rather than doing it manually myself. Oh well.

Hi, I am trying to get my Wii online with a wired ADSL modem. On the Nintendo website it says that modems often do not work (proper Routers better), and I didn't notice that until after I got the LAN Adaptor, and got Error code 51420. Other sources have claimed that its possible to use a wired modem by configuring the modem and Wii, but I'm not sure how to do this. I have an iConnect 622. Any help appreciated. (I have already read what the Error code means, but I don't know how to fix it.)

I would say that your easiest option is to get a wireless router between your source, and your pc... and then connect wireless or with lan adapter to router. The other option is to do as I did (see my posts both 3 above yours and 6 above yours) Should work the same way, as the only difference is our internet source.

I would get wireless if this doesn't work, I'd like to try this first. I guess it might work better running it through my laptop like you said, I've just been running my ethernet cord from my modem into the lan adaptor, into the Wii. So will any Ethernet crossover cable do? Once I get it I might need help configuring like you said.

if you want to keep incontact with your sister you can send messages through the Wii. you wll need to add her wii console number ( can be found under " address book" when you are in the messages section).

if you want to play online you will need her FC ( Friend code). the only online game i have is mario kart wii. so i will explain how to find your friend code in that game.

go into the game, create a license. then click on " nintendo WiFi" this will take you online. go down to "friends" then there should be a button that says " register friend code" in here you will find your FC and you can also add your sisters FC.

hope it helps

My setup now: Modem >> Usb cable >> Laptop >> Cat5e Crossover >> Nintendo LAN Adaptor >> Wii. How to I make the connection to my Wii? I have Windows Vista Home Premium . . How do I share the connection on my laptop? Do I need to put special settings in the Wii?
Any help is much appreciated.

ALso I dont think my computer is recognising the Wii at all, I don't know. (Very computer illiterate)
