Can you play games online?
If you cannot connect at all I would try port-forwarding the connection if you haven't, since you didn't comment on this.
If you do this and are still unable to connect, I would write Nintendo and see what they have to say.
Incase you are wondering, your connection test is successful because DNS doesn't step into action until you are looking to get an outside connection, the test is just talking back and forth locally between your router and Wii. This also points to it possibly being a security issue.
And as a final note, my old Linksys router was giving me wireless connection errors and it was due to it being old/faulty. An easy way to test this is to hook something else up wirelessly if possible and seeing what happens.

Short of doing all port forwarding (also referred to as a DMZ Host), another way is to configure your router to use an outside source for DNS (as opposed to your ISP's DNS). I use openDNS. On a Linksys Router, these are configured on the first setup screen as "DNS1", "DNS2", and "DNS3" respectively.
You only need two values to use openDNS:
208.67.220.220
AND
208.67.222.222
Once you've done that, anything that connects to your router (you need to reboot your router [unplug it for a minute, and unplug your modem too for about a minute, as it will take about that long for the IP to renew]), will automatically use the new DNS values.
To confirm you're using OpenDNS, just visit their website.
http://www.opendns.com
If you get a message saying: "Thanks you're using OpenDNS", you're in business, otherwise, you may have configured it incorrectly.
Let me know if you need any help -- just PM me.
I'm very computer literate, and work in the computer industry for a living.

Whats up with my Wii?!?!
My Dad, myself and my sister have had a Wii since Christmas, without my Mum's approval but never thought about conncting it to the internet, until about a week ago. We use a Netgear router which has wireless and wired cnnections both set upon it. The Wii can connect to the router as far as knowing that the router s there with 3 bars ofsignal but every time we try to do a connection test the error "53300" always appears. We have moved the Wii away from its esting place as it is next to a dvd player, under a tv, above a Sky box and below a video player (yes will still use a video player ) but still no luck.
Becasue the router is in the hallway te only connection we can use is wireless as my mum will not let us run a ethernet cable through to the living room where the Wiii.
Any possible soltions?

You can probably use the Usb wifi connecter. It might work.(you should get rid of the video player )

Oh. A world of sadness. I'm getting the error 51031. My first option, however, is not to have to purchase something extra in place of something which should already work.
In the router, I've input the SSID, and tried to set the password for WEP security. I've unchecked every possible option which might be denying my console access. And yes, radio is enabled.
On the Wii, I've tried clearing the settings, and inputting the information again and again. When I try to set the security to WEP, the password I've placed in the router is being rejected. (Upon checking the router, it seems to reset itself to 'non-existent' after each save, too.) The console is about 6 metres from the router, so distance shouldn't be a problem.
Anybody have solutions for me?

If the password is not saving chances are your router is faulty, nothing should stop it from saving shy of you telling it to not apply the changes. This may or may not be compounding your problem.

The only wireless network within range of your Wii console is not configured or is not compatible with the Wii.
Check for interference that may be preventing a successful connection.
Check to see if the router you are using is known to be incompatible. If your router is known to be incompatible, we recommend using a different router if possible.
Look up your router, if available, in our list of wireless routers, and check for any special notes that may be necesary to get the connection to work properly.
The router may not be assigning an IP address to the Wii console, and a connection using the "Manual Settings" may be necessary.
Your router may require a firmware update to work properly with the Wii console. Firmware updates can usually be found on the router manufactruer's website; consult the manufacturer for more information.
|
And a final note, turn your security off altogether and try connecting the Wii to see if this has any effect. If it does, reenable security and try again.

This error code usually indicates a problem relating to wireless security.
Please try the following troubleshooting:
Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router?
Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance)
Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key.
If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.
If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.
The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters).
If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot.
If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types:
WPA - PSK (TKIP)
WPA - PSK (AES)
WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering:
From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model).
If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings).
If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.
Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings:
On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.
Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response.
|
Be sure that the authentication password you input is exact. (case-sensitive) If it still does not work be sure MAC filtering isn't enabled, if it is, input the console information. Also, turn off security altogether and try connecting. If none of this works pull the plug/plug back in the Wii after ~30sec. and try again. Finally, if you have been entering the connection information into your Wii auto, do it manually this time and try to connect.

The Wii is wifi ready, no need to purchase anything. What the above guy said is correct, here is the short version:
From the main Wii screen click the bottomleft Wii icon
click Wii settings
click right twice
click internet
click connection settings
click new connection
search for access point
click through the screens to set up your connection.

Every router has a MAC filter list, poke around a bit to find it. Turn off your security and try connecting, if it works, turn security back on and try again.
If you have never done so, unplug your modem, router, and Wii and wait ~30sec. Plug them all back in (any order.) Try connecting again. If it still does not work input the connection options manually if you have been previously doing so with auto.
Also make sure your wireless mode is set to b or mixed. Try wireless channels 1 and 11. Be sure that there is no interference inbetween your Wii and wireless access point (such as a stereo system.)
Also if you have not, go to Nintendo's website and check out their router listings, see if they have any special info about your make/model that may be required to get wifi to work with the Wii.

Try uninstalling the Nintendo Wi-FI USB Connector software, and re-install. For step-by-step directions, including a link to the latest software, click here.
Does your PC have any security programs (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware, etc.) installed? If you are using the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, and have a software firewall or other computer security program installed on your computer, there may be additional steps you must complete to allow a successful connection.
"Trusted" Applications:
If your firewall or PC security program keeps a list of trusted applications (also known as a "trusted zone"), the following programs are installed with the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, and require internet communications. If prompted by your firewall or PC security program, add these to the list of trusted applications. This information may also apply to certain computer security applications, such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.:
