I also to be having a problem recently. Mario Kart Wii online has been laggin quite a bit on me lately. It's been fine for the first two months, but then suddenly almost every single game that I play online is so laggy that it drops me. "You have been disconnected from the other players"

I called my ISP and asked them if my connection was ok, they checked it and said it was fine, they also had me do a test from my house on my computer to check the internet speed, and was also fine. I'm getting really frustrated not being able to play online (rarely) because of this mess, can anyone help me out here?

Maybe you can help me with this:

I have a wireless router and it works well. I can access the internet channel on my wii and play online games. but What I can't do is use wii connect 24 or any of the features which need it(such as the wii shopping channel). It connects to the internet channel just fine, but when I try to connect to the internet in order to accept the terms and conditions for Wiiconnect 24, it says that I can't connect. Thanks in advance.(assuming this thread is still active.....)

Great thread all. A lot of good info.

I am having trouble getting past my own router and I have read through almost this entire thread and have not found a solution as of yet.

My home is wired (CAT-5) and I have a broadband cable connection.

I have not been able to sucessfully connect to the internet through my router.

I get a good connection when my Wii is connected directly to the cable modem, but cannot connect via the router.

The router is a Belkin (F5D5231-4). I am using the USB Lan Adaptor.

I have tried the following (in many combinations) without success.

* Static IP
* DHCP
* Static IP with Dynamic DNS
* Dynamic IP with Static DNS
* DNS set to the router's IP
* DNS set to the Cable company's IP
* Putting the Wii in the DMZ
* Opening ports listed on Nintendo firewall support site-both UDP and TCP
* Checked the LAN adapter in both USB ports
* Power cycling each component in every possible combination
* Disabling NAT
* Disabling MAC filtering
* Shutting down every other component on the network except for the Wii
* Trying each physical port on the Router
* Verifing with the cable company that they are not blocking required protocols

Most of the time, when in DHCP, the Wii isn't even getting an IP. It does occassionally.

I was all set to blame this on Belkin when I decided to give it another go with an Linksys router... nearly identical symptoms.

The difference... With the Belkin I get error codes in the 50xxx and 52xxx range - typically signifying I'm hitting the router but not getting anywhere. With the Linksys router yields errors in the 51xxx range - so I'm not even getting to the router.

The last piece of hardware in the mix is the USB/Lan adapter. I am using the Nyko adpter. I would blame it except for it works, as long as I don't use a router. That and I have read enough posts from users who have used it sucessfully.

Any thoughts? (I know, I know the first thought will be to quit being cheap and buy the Nintendo Lan adapter).

Well - I found the problem.

The person who crimped the end of the cable that plugs into the router didn't do a very good job. (It was me.)

Aparently the connection was good enough for the NIC in the laptop to maintain a connection, but not the Wii.

I moved the Wii to another location in the house and it works just fine.

I guess I get to re-crimp the bad cable now.

Just bought a Wii but unable to connect to Internet. I have a Netgear wireless router (branded as Sky as I have Sky broadband and it was provided as part of that package) that enables both my PC and PSP to access the internet with no problems. The Wii detects the router and the router seems to recognise the access password but connection test always fails. Have tried automatic and manual settings on the Wii to connect but no joy. Firewall settings for the router cannot be the problem as the PSP internet access (such as it is) works fine. Any ideas?

I am trying to get our wii to connect online. I have a Netgear Wireless router WGR614V6. When I try to set up the internet it does find the access point but when I test the connection it always gives me an error code of 51330. I have tried all kinds of things to get it to work but nothing does. It is on channel 11 with a mixed mode. HELP!!

ok so if u r using a wep key make sure that it is the key found in your routers setup not the passphrase if u r using wpa security make sure it is correct check to see if u r using mac filtering if that is done and isnt working try a manual setup if that doesn't work then i don't know

Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance)
Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key.
If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.

If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.

The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters).

If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot.
If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types:
WPA - PSK (TKIP)
WPA - PSK (AES)
WPA2 - PSK (AES)

If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering:

From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model).
If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings).
If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.
I emboldened the parts which may be of use to you, underlining the important concepts.

The only special note Nintendo has for your router is to broadcast in mixed b/g, which you have covered.

If you have not tried connecting on channel 1 do so.

Finally if you have not done this, unplug your router so no power is going to it, do the same for your Wii, wait 30sec and plug your router back in and allow it to boot fully. Plug your Wii back in and try connecting.

Hope something here helps!
