Ok so here is my issue. A lot of this is probably already been hashed over so many times, but nothing has helped me so far.
My network Hardware is this: Linksys WRT54G-TM Wireless Router, My Desktop (Wired), Wife's Desktop (Wired), Work's Laptop (Wireless), PS2 (Via Linksys WET54G Wireless Bridge).
My router settings are this: V5.00.38 firmware, Channel 11 (Someone else is using channels 1 and 4 in my area), WPA-PSK (TKIP) security (also tried without any security on the wireless), no firewall, No MAC Filtering.
Being that I set up WiFi networks for a living, I have access to some test equipment the average person might not. Did a signal to noise test from the site of my Wii to my router on channel 11 and the receive strength is -12dBm with a noise floor of -98dBm. So good strength, no interference.
I have set up the wireless in my Wii and it gets to Testing Connection and most of the time it hangs. The little cubes in the corner will still do their spinning thing and the sound is still going, but after 45 minutes, no pass or fail. Other times it will pass the connection test and I try to do anything online like updates or even accept the Wiiconnect24 agreement and it freezes. Again for about 45 minutes with no error message/code or progress.
At this point I think I might have a defective Wii.
Please help.
--Edit-- PS. For those of you out there wondering what fancy equipment I used. It was an HP 8562A Spectrum Analyzer. They are not actually hard to find, but a used one will run you about $6,000. And if you don't know how to use it, then its pretty much a heavy and expensive paperweight.

Quick update on my situation. The problem was my wireless bridge. After thinking about it last night. Having that bridge basically right next to the Wii was causing it to be blasted with RF. Turned off the bridge and everything works fine this morning.
Lesson learned, even the professionals miss the little things sometimes

Hi, am new to this so please bear with me, have bought the above and using it with a lap top with t mobile web and walk dongle thing and i loaded the software and immediately got online. All ok.
Problem I have is when i close it down in the proper manner and go to try to connect again, the connection is lost and wont re-connect. Only way I can get around this so far is re installing the software from scratch.
What am i doing wrong?

I'm having issues getting my Wii to connect online. I'm using the router that came with my Verizon FIOS service, it's an Actiontec MI424WR, which is 25-30 feet from the Wii. I've noticed that some times if I power down and then search for connections, my connection will show up, at other times it will not. I have everything entered manually, but the connection will not work. I usually get the error code 51030, but that hasn't helped me much.
When I had another internet service, I used a linksys router and it worked flawlessly. But now that I have this actiontec, I can't seem to connect. My laptop works fine anywhere in the house, but the Wii cannot find the connection. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions to get this thing working properly?

Using the linksys isn't an option for me anymore, as I no longer have it, (gave it to my brother). I'm not sure it would work anyway since the Actiontec MI424WR from Verizon has the modem built into it. I'm not even sure about that though since I don't know too much about networking. I just need to figure out how to get this router to communicate with my Wii. It works with my laptop, but not the Wii. Any other ideas?

My problem is not making any sense at all anymore.
Had my Wii connected to internet in another location, and now I want to connect my Wii here. I have a working Sitecom router. First, the Wii found that accesspoint, made connections, and I was able to play. The next time I wanted to play though, the Wii started giving the famous 51330 error. Just, out of the blue. Tried everything I could find on different fora. The stupid thing now is that, after failing to get connected with the internet while selecting the router, the Wii is having trouble finding the router itself, though it does find those of several neighbours. It just doesn't seem logical. Either it works, or it doesn't right?

Sounds like you have some interference with the signals where you're at right now.
Have you tried moving the router around to see if it does any difference? Try move it higher up or closer to the wii (but not closer than 2-3 meters)
Also use some monitoring tools to see what channels your neighbors use and pick one that doesn't interfere with them (use 1, 6 or 12).

An ssid is the name of your wireless network.

I appreciate any help you can give me.
Question 1. "First make sure you have an Ethernet cable connected directly from your broadband modem or wired router."
My router is in another room. Can I connect my Wii LAN adapter to an ethernet connection just in the wall ? I do not have wireless as all our walls are concrete.
Question 2: I connected the Wii LAN adapter with an ethernet cable to the wall. I got error message 51420. I've strung 2 different ethernet cables to other ethernet wall jacks and got the same error message.
This is a new home. Wii is giving me a MAC ISP ... but I don't know if it's right any of the other answers to the setting questions Proxy, ISP etc. Could you give me " INFO 101 " or direct me to somewhere that walks me thru the exact info I need to get from my cable company?
