Hi Gents,
I'm seeing my AP just fine from the Wii, but after I enter my key I get an error during the connection test phase. Error 51330. When I enter this error into the Nintendo error page it tells me nothing. I've tried resetting my router and upgrading the firmware both of which have been unsuccessful. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any suggestions for resolving this issue. Thank you. |

i had this error and got mine and a friends working this way
total manual setup on the router - add and allow MAC address of Wii, reserve an IP for Wii, DMZ the Wii's IP (this is my only wireless device so i don't use encryption- heh encryption for my Wii packets !!) on the Wii - find access point , select it , done thats it, so easy!!! at least for me....

It's not a firmware issue, and the problem varies between different setups. For my problem setting up the net, was as simple as resetting the router (after configuring the Wii and router for access of course). If the problem is firmware, it was most likely due to a configuration issue that the upgrade reset back to default.

Just an addition to this. I just had this problem and the issue was that the Wii was auto detecting the wrong security type. I had WPA2 selected on the router, the Wii was trying to use WPA. I forced it to choose WPA2, reinput the key and it worked fine.

This was the first page google found so I'm posting my solution, mine worked on ch6 so I do not think it has anything to do with that; 1 Versus 11 chat above. I think modern Wiis are G not B for sure, streaming media tells me that. I may have been half asleep (probably) but I got a 10 character WPA2 AES code to work when my normal 63 character one wouldn't work. So it could be the length of the code as someone else said here, I guess the hardware needs to process those codes and crunch the numbers so it could be limited based on hardware ability? unsure. Anyhow I attached a USB keyboard so I didn't have to type all the characters in with the Wiimote, but I believe that my Num Lock was on (seems to be as standard on Wii) and that knackered my letters to numbers, watch for that one! (esp at 3am). Either way I got the 51330 and this was may solution. Probably human error. as is 99.9% of the time! Ultimately I had a 24 char BSSID and a 50 char code on a 4.0E Menu system bought June09.
