EVERYONE wishes that its free. but under the circumstances. id rather pay for something thats exponentially better than a piece of crap thats free. ive had to reset my wii before because brawl was lagging so much online

who cares dude, its cool its free but the lag is a bitch. I'm sure people would pay including myself, if they would fix the problems, make all servers better plus add more features. But u see it happening? no. And possibly not ne time soon besides the wiiware.. wow

Once pay for play pops up the sales will speak for what you actually want. If it does not have the features you want you simply will not pay. I'm sure friend codes will be a parental option and easily turned off if such a thing does actually make it to market. Yet if there is no lag then there should also be the free version that you can use. Mostly the hardcore will be paying for this service and the other gamers don't like extra taxes. Seriously the game and the service has to be worth the money which will take a really sick game for me to move from PC online to console when PC gaming is still free and better online.

What if they made online pay optional for a better experience? For instance, in the case of brawl, you would be able to get new characters or Nintendo made stages with voice chat online. And in Mario Kart Wii, you would get new stages, a world rank, online chat, and maybe new items. JUST AN IDEA!!!

You get what you pay for.
Wonder why Xbox Live was so buggy during December and January? It's the same reason why it was recently buggy: Call of Duty 4.
Their servers overloaded, it went down.
But they got it fixed and it's up and running again.
Xbox Live was the best innovation of the last generation in gaming.
I'd gladly pay for a Wii version.

Not going to PAY if they can't even fix the SSBB servers so we can find people online.

It really depends. They are keeping the free service, but are going to offer a much better pay to play service as well. I'm hoping this will include new features such as voice chat and downloadable content, as well as improve the online servers of games. I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks a month. If you can't afford 5 bucks a month, you phail at life.

We should be getting PSN-like online. Their online is free but they get a ton of options that Wii gamers don't, such as:
- The ability to add friends without having to talk to go through the tedious, retarded friend code system, you can just send an invite.
- You can COMMUNICATE with them in-game, and everything is just better and you don't feel like you're playing with AI because of the amount of isolation.
- Finally, barely any lag and tons of in-game options.
If they're going to make us "pay-to-play" (as stated in an article about future games), they damn well better pull something Xbox-live worthy in terms of communication. I'm tired of friend codes.

Nobody even knows exactly what this pay to play thing will be yet, only thing i've really heard is that the games featuring it will have a red logo. That makes me think that it won't be an xbox live style subscription service like most on here are talking about.
First things that i thought of was paying for some kind of mmorpg or downloadable content in certain games. Animal Crossing maybe?

Couldn't have said it better myself. If your going to have to pay for online serivce for the Wii and they keep the same features, say goodbye to Nintendo's money-making plan. I sure wouldn't pay especially when you compare it to the 360 which is just amazing online and the PS3 which is free and is a still hundred's of times better then the Wii's. So if they want this to work, Nintendo must come in with new plans, and do away with the old.

If I pay, I demand an Xbox-Live worthy online experience. No friend codes, MUCH better servers, better online options, in-game dashboard, the whole damn deal.
Alternatively, they could upgrade their free online system to at least a ps3 network level. Really, get rid of those retarded friend codes.
Nintendo needs to get this through their head: Being unique is different from being shitty.
No online communication whatsoever? Shitty.
Horrible servers? Shitty.
Barely any in-game online options? Shitty.
Friend codes? Slit my wrists shitty.
I'm sure there's much more to add to this list. Oh, and if "Wii" was designed to bring people together, (even it's NAME was derived from this..) then why have they made such an inaccessible, isolated system? It's great when you have friends over, but that's only situational. The Wii should have the ultimate online experience, to "Bring people together.". Instead, Nintendo works hard to keep us disconnected.
These outstanding issues need to be addressed. AND IF FRIEND CODES AND NO COMMUNICATION ARE STILL IN PAY TO PLAY, I WILL GO TO JAPAN AND RAPE EVERY NINTENDO EMPLOYEE WITH MY FIST.
Edit: Just read the above. I basically regurgatated (SP) what Bob said. Oh well, me and him think alike anyways. (except his fantasy is to kill someone with a lava lamp.) Lmfao.

Like it or not friend codes aren't going anywhere. Nintendo has claimed more than once that according to their research people like the friend code system.
I have no idea who they are asking...

Their interview looks like this:
Miyamoto: Hey, little boy, do you like friend codes?
Kid with down syndrome: HURR DURR HRURRRR ARARAR
Miyamoto: Hey! He likes it! That averages out to 1, 000 people that like friend codes.
Assisstant: What about everyone else?
Miyamoto: Who cares? Everyone that buys a Wii and plays online has down syndrome. HURR DURR HURR ARARA
