I am actually planning on getting internet from a cell phone carrier such as the one you have within the next month or so.

As far as I know, yes, a USB wifi dongle such as the ones made for Wii and DS should work for you.

it will work unless.. the wii wont let you because the internet is too slow. i dont know what nintendo recommends for speed. the t-mobile thing says "Up to 1.8 Mbps connection" which means 1.8 is the max, and the lowest is 0. i dont know what the minimum speed is. it will also depend on the signal strenght you'll get from t-mobile.

got this response so what do you think i should do?

ps where does the wifi usb from nintendo go in the wii or in the laptop

Hello,

Thank you for your email about connecting your wii to your usb modem.

Unfortunately the usb modem is not a WIFI device. It uses a sim card the same as a mobile phone to connect to our mobile network. This means it does not broadcast a signal that your wii can log onto for internet access.

We cant support the nintendo wifi adapter. In theory as long as you can connect to the internet OK using your usb modem then the nintendo wifi adapter should connect as well. If it doesn't this is something you would need to take up with nintendo I'm afraid.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more help on this occasion, if I can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards
Ross
T-Mobile

the USB connector should work for you, or you might also be able to bridge your tmobile card with your wifi card and broadcast the connection.

I'd give the Nintendo USB Wifi adapter a shot. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

But yes, as someone else said, it depends on whether your internet is EDGE or 3G. If your T-Mobile is 3G, it should be fast enough for online play. If it's EDGE, I honestly wouldn't bother. EDGE is roughly dialup speeds. Ick.

I, personally, think it should be fast enough. 3G is generally comparable to T1 speeds.
