Mario Kart Wii Online Problems
Hi all,
Since I bought Mario Kart Wii about a week ago I have been experiencing random dropouts when racing online. Sometimes it tells me that everyone else disconnected and gives me ~120 points and sometimes it tells me that I disconnected and docked me ~100 points.
Also sometimes when I go to join a group of people who are already racing, after watching them finish the race, as soon as they finish it tells me I've been disconnected from other players. Is this just me who is having these problems.
I did an internet speed test on www.speedtest.net (not sure if its reliable) and it tells me my download speed is 440 kilobits per second and my upload speed is 90 kilobits per second. My wireless router is a D-Link DI-524 and my Wii is about 12m, through a wall and 2 cupboards. That should be sufficient? As I said, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn

It could be you modem. I was using a 2wire modem from bigpond australia with Xbox live and it drops out constantly although its fine with my wii.
Ring your ISP and tell them.
Also have you set your forward-porting? if you dont know what that is google forward porting and wii it might help you.

If he can connect it isn't a port/firewall issue. You may want to try changing wireless channels and see if it helps any, Nintendo has been doing this to a lot of people though so don't feel alone.

Just to clarify from what I said earlier because I wasn't talking about this, this is correct. If you cannot connect at all try port-forwarding.

If you live in North America, try racing regionally.

you can usually tell while the game is loading up the race that you have been d/c'd. as it takes a massive amount of time before you get the message.
i imagine it would be the massive load on the servers at this time.. as EVERYONE will be starting to go online.
what i try to do is go on when no one else is uaually on. for example, i work during the day. but on weekends i'm free. so i do a all nighter on friday and saturday night usually up untill around 3am. there is SFA load on the servers at that time. as not as many people are online at that time.
the internet speed has little to do with it. i'm on a 512/256 connection and i only get dis connected when the traffic is big.

I HATE when that happens. Don't know why it disconnects after you've found people and watched the replay.
Yeah anyway, join the club.

You aren't officailly connected to the other players until the sync takes place after the match ends, you are only connected to the server and watching. I would imagine this would be to prevent people from flooding/lagging out an already in-play game/racer.

my problems with online play
I to have been disconnected one way or the other, another problem I find that happens is the placement system. There was a time where I was clearly behind in the ranks, like next to last place and at the end of the race the game ended up giving me second place. There was one other time where I was way in the lead and completed the race in first place but then the game calculated the points and showed me in second place, what gives? anyone else with simliar clashes?

I have only seen this happen to me when you get "the race has been decided" message.
