Urgent Help Needed: WiiConnect24

Hi, I encounter the error " No access to WiiConnect24 and WiiShop service" whenever I click on the WiiConnect24, trying to activate it.

As a result, I have no access to all the channels. However, my internet connection is up and is able to do firmware update from the web.

Is there anything I can do to enable the WiiConnect24? Really appreciate any kind soul...

No.. haven't even reach that page... I was expecting the T&C page to appear where I can either agree or disagree. But service not available screen appear before that.

un-plug the system. give it a good 30seconds, plug it back in, go back through all the setup procedures under the wii menu. this should work. Check your WiFi code on the wireless router.... you may need to make your network UNSECURE (No WEP/WPA code) just to get it to connect. I had a friend that had to do this. Good thing is, you'll just have to SECURE the network when your done, and its not easy at all.

Have you ever been able to access those channels? If not you should google your issue, other people have had this problem too and had to have their Wii sent to Nintendo for a quick fix.

I have just spoken to the MaxSoftonline tech support. Apparently, if you set the locale to 'Singapore', the Wii will have no access to the WiiConnect24 and WiiShop. Reason is the Official Wii in Singapore doesn't support online channels. Will have to live with this till the service is opened to Singapore. Estimate time: Nil.

To work around this problem, just set the locale to "US" and the connection should work. However, any downloads via the channels will void the warranty of the Official 220v Wii.

Seems like I have paid a premium console (official version) for limited functionalities.

From the main Wii screen click the bottomleft Wii icon
click Wii settings
click right twice
click internet
click connection settings
click new connection
search for access point
click through the screens to set up your connection.

Don't Turn Off Wep/wpa Security!

Just so you know, you do NOT have to turn off WEP/WPA security to get the Wii to work online!

You should never do this, as it will allow ANYONE to get on your network, and use your internet connection.

1) You should not be using WEP security anyway, unless you have an older router, as WEP security is not as secure as WPA.

2) Some routers have WPA and WPA2 (make sure you're using WPA Personal, not WPA Enterprise).

When you attempt to connect with your Wii, the Wii will query your network to see what security you are using WPA or WPA2 (some WPA2 configurations won't work with Wii, so you can switch to standard WPA in this case), and will ask you for your network pass.

Once you enter in that information, do a connection test.

The Wii should connect with no problem.

I am using a Linksys Wireless-N Router (WP160N), and have no trouble connecting whatsoever.

In fact, all my computers (I have 6 computers in total in my house), all use the same internet connection, and the games I play on the Wii online are not any slower or anything.

You should be okay after configuring everything as I mentioned.

If you absolutely have to disable security on your network, you should at least be using the MAC filtering that every router has built in to it, so that only your computers (and your Wii) can use your internet connection.

The Wii's MAC address is in the Wii options.

Hope this helps!
