I finally got the Wii opera browser and thankfully, a trickle of a connection. I'd say the opera browser is one of the best alotted amount of points I've ever spent on the shop channel. My only qualm about the browser is having to repeatedly use the Wiimote as a pointer but that's about it.
Anyone else think it's one of the greatest inventions for the Wii with minimal faults or does anyone think I'm a lunatic?

I downloaded as well thinking it would be something cool to have. But since I downloaded it I've never used it since. Too slow to point the wiimote to type out the webpage you want to go onto. I just use my laptop if I need to surf the web for whatever reason.

Well, it's worth it to utilize a keyboard with it (if you have one). I found it quite a fun browser compared to my normal Firefox version, I guess a change in scenery is nice once in awhile (for my anyways).

I think I would use it a hell of a lot more if I had a keyboard, otherwise I agree about it being too slow to type some things out. All in all however there is very little bad to say about it.

Wii and computer both display through my monitor, I just hit the switch on my VGA box if I need to browse the web.

Are there wireless keyboards for the Wii?
Be well, all.

Yeah, a keyboard makes it a hell of a lot easier to use. Pointing and clicking to type out the letters takes FOREVER to do.

I agree, its never going to replace my laptop but for checking email and messing around a bit it seems to work well.
My Wii is hooked to a big screen in my bar, I use the browser and a program called Orb (running on my PC) to access my MP3s, photos and videos ect... It works great and its free. If anyone else is interested its at http://mycast.orb.com/

I am a huge fan of the Opera browser on the Wii. I've been using Opera for years and as soon as I got the Wii I tried the browser.
The things I dislike about it are the 1 page at a time approach and the text input screen. I use a keyboard with it but those things still bugged me.
The 1 page at a time thing I worked around by making a website that uses javascript to simulate tabbed browsing. I can routinely have 4 or 5 webpages open at once in tabs this way. So I am hoping the Internet Channel gets an update to add native tabs since the system seems capable of having at least a few running.
And I am working on a website that circumvents the text entry screen across the board.
For now I made a little chat page to try it out and was able to use Javascript events to capture keyboard input and handle it directly without having to click on the text field and type it in on the built in screen. It's annoying that the Internet Channel uses a modified set of keycodes but, for the most part, everything seems to work.
Once I had basic tabbed browsing working I actually switched over to browsing mostly on the Wii now just because I enjoy using the Wiimote to browse around pages quickly and comfortably and because it's been hot where I live lately and my computer practically belches fire O.O

It's good if you're tired of your computer and have an extra keyboard with a usb connector.

I like the browser, but I do wish I could change the way it looked. That glowing white look can be distracting to me sometimes.

Yeah I got tired of how it looks too. But I just keep it minimized. You can do everything with the Wiimote without the menu being there so I like to keep it down just to see more of the screen anyway.

Good point.
Another thing I like about the browser is, say I'm stuck on a game. Instead of going all the way downstairs to turn on my computer, and eventually get side tracked, I can search from the comfort of my own Wii.

It`s great if somebody else is on the computer and you want to go on the internet.
