Is the nintendo wifi network global, or region-limited?
In other words, assuming a friend of mine has a PAL Wii, and I have an NTSC Wii, can we play SSBB against each other? If not, is there any way to make it work?
(In case both answers are no - Does someone have an idea of where to buy a PAL Wii?)

PAL? NTSC? If you never heard of these then you cannot answer my question.

yes, they're compatible over WFC, PAL and NTSC only affect the TV you are connecting to, not the gameplay.

close, it's the standards used for output to TVs in Europe (where US and Japan use NTSC). The only things that change are the resolution and framerate of the video

negative, ghost rider. Internet is internet, the Wii has no ad-hoc connectivity.
