I currently don't have a wireless router but I do have a extra wireless Ethernet card I can put in my computer. If I do that can it be used to allow me to connect my wii to the internet.

If this can not be done what is the most popular route to connect my wii to the internet.

buying a wireless router would probably be the easiest way, or you could buy the ethernet adapter and plug your wii into the modem directly however you would have to disconnect your pc to do this unless you have a wired router with open ports.

Why buy a wireless router when you can buy a wi-fi USB adapter? As long as the Wii is in range with the adapter(which plugs into one of your PC's ports), then you certainly won't need a router. It's quite cheap as well! I'll edit in a link.

EDIT: Here's the link!

If you do buy one, just keep it away from cordless phone signals(unplug them when in use). They may sometimes interfear with the Adapter's connection. Only sometimes, however. I use one, after all.

Hm.. That is unfortunate. Through my experiences the wi-fi adapter can't connect through walls, especially if they're that far away. Sorry to get your hopes up.

Buying a wireless router may be best, but I'd wait a day or two for other solutions to pop up here.

That extra ethernet card may or may not come in handy.. I'm not sure.

you can use your computer as a router if that's what you're asking. you'll have to google "use PC as a router"

I would strongly advise against the wifi USB adapter. It was discontinued a year ago and is not longer supported by Nintendo. It's complicated to set up, and plagued with issues even on a good day. And it's dependent on your computer being on and in perfect working order (and we all know how "perfect" Windows tends to be).

Your money is better-spent on a wireless router, which will provide much more reliable service and free you from all those issues. Considering they can be had for under $30 there's no reason to not get one instead of the problematic USB wifi adapter.

I would strongly advise against one too. I use one, but it took me over a year to get it to work. I've had to install different drivers to get it to work anyways. So it is not running off of Nintendo's program and drivers. DON'T GET THE NINTENDO WI-FI USB ADAPTER!
