Works! Needed to toggle between Mixed and G mode-only.
Current Configuration:
802.11G, WPA2-PSK, AES, CH11, SSID Broadcast on. Very frustrating but it finally worked, downloaded update, news, weather, etc. Wii seems to need a clean and strong signal.

Default On Line Gaming Problems

Hi Gang,

We have an EHome EH100 router. All goes well with the connection testing etc. until we try to join a game. When we try to join, the internet connection drops. The computer makes note of a network connection being dropped.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks for your thoughts!

MAXCapicitor -- that thread did the trick. This router is similar. Here's what needed to be done. Go to the advanced setting tab for your router. Assign a specific IP on the router for the WII, UPnP + Gaming Mode should be disabled with absolutely no ports open.

This did the trick!!

Thanks!

i use the Netgear Me102 access point

its not really a router but if you have a dual mode cable modem ie. USB or eaithernet it works great...i use usb to my computer for my internet connection... i then share the connection with my eaithernet adapter on the computer which then goes to the Access point and broadcast through out the house... nice feature if you want to run a fast connection i turn my security off on the AP and my computers firewall blocks any intrusions into the network...

11meg wireless connection throughout the house... nice quick downloads on the wii and laptops...

There's a little reset button on your router somewhere that you probably need a pen or something to push. Push that until you see lights flash, or all turn off and back on or something like that.

Belkin Wireless G Router Model #F5D7231-4

Worked flawlessly, although I am selling now because I changed to AT&T U-verse internet which comes with its own router.

WRT54GS

Slow with default settings. Had to change frequency from 6 to 1.

Netgear WGR614 V5

We just got our Wii a few weeks ago...

Messed around with this for hours-- detects my network but fails the internet connection test-- went to nintendos site-- no help-- did all there recommendations...

Disabled SPI Firewall, Firmware update, etc... same thing.

Finally tried this and it worked-- not sure if it was both or one or the other but it worked after doing both of these...

Login to the router--

1. On the left side of the screen down at the bottom select UPnP--

Click the box at top that says Turn on UPnP (universal Plug n Play)

Click Apply.

2. (I think this is the one that did it) While logged into the router.. On the left hand side under "Advanced"-- select "Wireless Settings"

Click-- "setup access list"... Click "add"

In the Device Name Field I put "Wii"-- can be any name.
In the MAC address Field I put the Mac address I found when messing around in the internet setup on the Wii... I'm not sure if the are all the same-- mine was 00:1c:be:a8:03:90 (the Wii shows the numbers with "-" not ":" use the colons ":" in the router-- then click "Add".

I did the internet test after and it worked...

I have since re-enabled my SPI Firewall and turned off the UPnP and it is still connecting just fine. Hope this helps someone.

I recently purchased a belkin router to determine which is the better of the 2.
Linksys wrt54g or
F5D7230-4
ANY FEEDBACK ON THE 2 ROUTERS?

This is the slickest router I have ever laid eyes on.
Can not imagine paying the asking price but,
belkin is one up on the competition as of now.
