Go for Super Metroid. There's few games that are so well designed, and of course it's plenty of fun. In terms of longevity, it's about 8-10 hours on your first playthrough, if you try to collect everything, and it has as much replay value as most Nintendo games (i.e. not much).

and now that I think about it , Ive seen the question posed "should I get X, or Super MEtroid" 100000 times on here, and no matter what the other game is, that answer is always Metroid.

If you wanted a slightly longer game (and you do have enough for a SNES game) consider getting The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - it really is the original Zelda game in that the 3D games have obtained all their mechanics from this game and haven't changed the formula much. Will last you a lot longer than Super Metroid (although it's still a brilliant game) and provide more of a challenge.
