First off let me say, nice forum.

I'm looking for help with my downloaded games. When I try to play the games I can hear the audio but the video isn't there. It's not a cabling problem, I can see the Wii channels to select a game. I can see the scree flash as it attempts to load the game, but then it fails. Playing games from a disc works just fine, anyone have any thoughts?

Alright. I had this problem with Samurai Shodown when I downloaded it. It has to do with the resolution the game is trying to play at. You can fix it by some complex button trick. Why Nintendo made it so difficult is beyond me... but here's their solution (that works):

Quote:
Some Virtual Console games default to displaying 240 lines of video. Some HDTVs are unable to display a signal with only 240 lines. Try the steps below to set the Wii to output 480 lines of video, which may solve the problem:

1. While on the Wii Channel Menu (main screen of the Wii), connect a Nunchuk to Wii Remote.
2. Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.
3. When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)
4. Select "Operations Manual" from the Home menu.
5. Press the Z + A + 2 Other Buttons simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.
6. Close the Home menu. The game should now display correctly. Note: You will not have to do this the next time you play, as the Wii console will remember these settings.
It actually works. Good luck!

Does anybody have a list of games, the trick above does not work for?

So far, I have found: Super Mario Bros. and Baseball

Nintendo refuses to give refunds or credit for this issue; furthermore, they do not post Virtual Console games that can not be increased to the required 480 lines of video
