Umm yeah I'm an "OLD" fan of Mario since the day Super Mario World was out so I don't know what you're trying to say. I've watched the cartoons as a child and I've watched the movie which I thought was kinda good. You say I shove my opinions down peoples throats when thats really you. I realize that some people will prefer GTA over Mario. But honestly you're grouping all mario lovers into "old" and "new", stereotyping their preferences, and yet you critize me? Thats kinda shady in my opinion and never in a million years could anyone make that type of assumption. Then you go on this rant about how sales mean nothing...which is your excuse for everything you don't agree with it.

As for GTA IV chanigng things...you must be smoking something. Everywhere from IGN to Joystiq has basically said the trailer was kinda boring and nothing really new occured except the guy being Russian. Its may be amazing to YOU but you are NOT everyone although I'm sure you think you are. Frankkly its too early to even say that its going to revelutionize anything yet. I'm going to wait until an antual trailer with some meat comes out. But w/e the bottom line is that its subjective like you said and we each have our own opinion.

People like different game generes. I personaly do not like GTA but alot of other people do. GTA is a totaly different game then mario and alot of these GTA type games (scareface and godfather for example) are getting on the wii. Reggie him self has stated they are talking to rockstar and GTA may be on wii soon. PS3 is a great system and Wii is a great system the fact of the mater is at no time is everyone always going to like both sony and nintendo products.

The Wii and PS3 are aimed at a different market at different kinds of people. PS3 is quite expensive but if you have a HDTV and want a good blue disk player its an awsome investment and it also has some pretty good games with awsome graphics but graphics are not everything if Wii had PS3 graphics yes it would probly be a lot better but it would also be a lot more money and less of the average consumer (which nintendo is marketing to) would buy it. Game play can a lot of times out weigh graphics this is why PS3 is not always as good as Wii but if you can afford both then great you get best of both world.

In my oppinion sony made a mistake of releasing the ps3 right now because of how expensive they are to make( about $800 each PS3) if they were to do a little more research and figured out how to make them cheaper then they wouldnt be in the financial trouble they are in now. Im just going to tell you this I own a wii but I plan on getting a PS3 when they are more affordable for people like me that only make $6.75 an hour and also 360s are pretty sweet lets not leave them out they are basicaly capable of the same graphics as PS3 and have halo 3 so im probly getting that as well when I can afford it anyways yeh this is what I think sorry my message is so long lol.

FYI you guys DO know the ps3 is 499 for the 20gig and 599 for the 60gig.so actually its not 600 dollars.

Right now we know they are going to release another version of the PS3, one with a bigger hard drive and some other things. Its said this will replace the 599 dollar one and the 499 dollar one will become the current 60gig version. They were not losing more money on the 20gig version, rather, no one wanted to buy the cheap version compared to the one with more goodies.

sony DID lose more money on the 20gig.if im not mistakin the difference is 40 dollars.and the 20gig MAY be getting phased out as you say but its still not confirmed so as of right now 499 is correct.i own a 20giger =)

The market mechanism means that prices will drop as there's an excess in supply. Over here in the UK they don't even sell the 20GB version, there's only the 60GB one which costs the equivalent of $850.

sorry for the late reply. yes, i'd much rather buy a $10,000 civic over a $20,000 benze because of its reliability, not style. forgive me, but i believe the point of NEXT-GEN GAMING is to improve on the gaming itself, not the visual effects. if you wanted to buy a benz because it had nice rims and not the civic, even though it had a better engine and a more reliable and proven maker, then you're in for a bitter surprise. one must keep in mind while buying cars, homes, gaming systems or what have you that although a company may glamorize their product, the shine and shimmer does not contribute whatsoever to the overall quality of the system and/or its games. yes, mercedes has been proven to make better cars than hondas by far, but the sony playstation series is not the mercedes benz of the gaming world. while sony has undoubtedly released games that have given gamers pleasure across the world, what does it say? that it's only been around for several years and has not, not by a long shot, proven its authenticity as a gaming giant. nintendo has been doing the gaming thing since sony was still married to mariah carey, and yet even after so long, we still hail mario, zelda, donkey kong and the like to be classics, games that we've all grown up on. who can say that about final fantasy? gta? again, whiles these games were wildly popular and good (for the most part), they have not stood the test of time, nor do i think (again, not trying to flame, just stating my opinion) it will.

i'm sorry, but you can't compare mario to gta: watermelons and grapes, davids and goliaths. if after 15 years gta is still being spoken about as one of the greatest franchises in gaming history, then maybe we can talk. but it hasn't. nor will it. sony is certainly a heavy contender, but i think the ps3's trumped when compared to the wii. innovation (from a proven maker) vs. glimmer and shine (from an up-and-coming maker): KO, Nintendo.

I think you can compare Mario and Zelda to GTA and Final Fantasy, just like you can compare them to Halo on 360.

impossible. realistically, how wide of a spectrum do you believe GTA is popular in? what's the age range? better yet, at what age do you cap the age limit with which GTA is familiar with gamers? here's what i'm trying to say: my mom (55) is familiar with mario, but has no clue as to what grand theft auto is, or halo. so again, realistically, which is more popular?
