need help with PS3 internet connection

okay guys. i just moved and i just got the internet today. i have cable internet service with time warner cable. i currently do not have a wireless router, but i will be getting one.

i was trying to connect my cable modem with my PS3 manually through the ethernet cable. however, the PS3 could not obtain an IP address!

could someone please help me with this problem?

cant help you cause that never happened when i connected my ps3.

If you had a computer connected to the modem prior to trying to connect the PS3, unplug the modem for about 30 seconds and after plugging it back in connect the PS3 and it should work. This is to reset any IP address your modem may have stored.

You could give it a IP manually. Check your comps IP by going into START>RUN and type in CMD. In there type IPCONFIG /ALL and it should show your IP in K CONNECTION. Then set up your PS3 connection and use the comps ip but change the last tenth digit one point higher.

Example:
192.168.1.117 will change to 192.168.1.127
