Dark Sector worth $39.99?

It's currently on sale at Futureshop until Thursday I think. I'm not buying this game for the multiplayer, so I'm pretty interested in the graphic details, how good the enemies look, and how they actually react to what you're doing.

Wasn't going to buy this game at all, until I saw this video, and the atmosphere looks really good: Gametrailers Video

Ah thanks, didn't know they had one up there.

So I downloaded it, and it plays fairly well. The cover system is a little odd, but I was getting used to it near the end. The boss battle in the demo was definitely the highlight. I still haven't decided if I want to pick it up or not; I still have a few PS3 games still in the plastic on my shelf,

man, i didnt see the demo was available.. though maybe its not in the UK yet?

i did download the preview vids, looks like a good game, will probably end up getting it... though not yet

(i still have too many games i need to play out first

I checked out Wiki, and it only has one release date, but it also has a PEGI rating, so it should be out there.

Picked it up today.

I'll try and give some impressions of the game in the next week or so. I hope I can stop playing GTAIV for a few hours in order to get that done,

Beat the game yesterday, and I really had no major issues with it. The cover system can be a little tricky in the beginning, but after a few levels, I was able to get used to it. The shooting was accurate, the buttons placement/mapping was good, the controls were responsive, and the glaive was really fun to use.

Definitely worth the $39 price tag, and I plan on going back through it a second time in hard mode (unlocked after beating on normal). It's right on the cusp of being worth the full $59, but it needed to be longer for me to give it that recommendation.

so whilst the vids make it look decent, you say it was decent... is it yet another short game?

annoying how a load of recent games can be finished so quickly

It's one of those games that's hard to tell if it was too short because it was good (wanted it to continue), or if it was just too short. I pretty much beat it in two sittings, but both blocks of time were about 4 hours each. So I guess compared to what they're putting out today, it would be average.

That being said, I'd definitely rent it first, especially if you're looking at paying full price.
