Reasons To Buy A PS3?
I am looking into buying another system, but can't decide between a PS3 or 360.
What I would like to know from PS3 owners is a few things, talk about what comes with the console, good games out now or coming out soon and talk about PS3's online etc. Ultimately it will probably come down to which exclusives I like better because most games are on both platforms.
Feel free to add more to those questions as they were only suggestions, I am just really stuck as to which console I should buy.

I basically did the same thing.
But I honestly put reliability on par with exclusives in this case. The PS3 won out in the end because of the RROD issue. I know it's not every 360 that breaks down, but I know it would piss me off if I wanted to play a game but couldn't, because I would have to wait the 2-4 weeks for it to come back to me repaired.
Both consoles both have pretty good exclusives when I was looking at them though, so I don't think you can lose either way. The online is really good on PSN. I never have any problems getting online in CoD4, although it's been hit and miss with GTA, but I'm pretty sure that will be fixed very soon.
And having the Blu-Ray player for future HD movies was also a nice bonus.

I don't have either yet, but I have decided on the PS3 if/when I do get one. My main sellers are the Blu-Ray player, and lack of a 33% failure rate. The downloadable content for GTA4 on the 360 does sound good though. My coworker has received 4 360 coffins now, and I really don't want to support shoddy construction. Just my .2c --cheers.

I made this decision a while back - I went for the PS3.
Basically, as you said, just look at the exclusives. I'm personally preferring the releases of Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, and Final Fantasy XIII [than the 360 exclusives]. There are others that I'm sure other people will mention, such as Killzone 2 and Resistance 2.
The Blu-Ray player could also be a swinging factor. It is simply breathtaking.
Most of the best games on the PS3 at the moment are in fact on the 360 as well, but that will change with the releases that I mentioned.
I'm not sure what you get with the PS3s over there, so I can't really comment on that. But just shop around and see what deals/bundles are going on.
As for the online, I've had absolutely no problems with it. Of course, it is widely regarded that XBox Live is better, and it probably is...but you won't be disappointed with the Playstation Network. Plus the in-game X-Media Bar is coming, as well as Home, so the PSN looks to have a good future.
I'm sure T3kNi9e will come and argue the 360's case, but it basically comes down to exclusives.
Hope I was some help bud!

Aren't they coming out with an MGS4 PS3 bundle? That would be cool if you got that one instead of the regular.
As Lewi mentioned, there is that game Home that should be coming out this year and it looks like the Sims x100.

Lol why would I argue for the 360 case here? I made my point on the other thread. I have a PS3, though I don't use it I do have one and there's nothing wrong with the PS3. I just enjoy my 360 games over it. IMO they're both good and I personally like both my PS3 and 360 better than my Wii. It all comes down to what exclusives you like IMO.

^ like he said it really depends on what exclusives you want.
The PS3 is more reliable and does have blu-ray though. If you have a HD TV the PS3 is a great deal. I WANT ONE!

I should have changed that really because I posted that before I even realised there was another thread! Apologies...but yeah, Brandon, just decide what exclusives you prefer really.

Most significant #1 for me: I wanted a Blueray (BD) player. The PS3 is an outstanding solution - the incredible powerful CELL proc (vs. standalone players) means most player functions can be added via software updates.
The DTS-MA decoding, BDLive!, Profile 2.0, etc., all added via a download - that makes the PS3 the most "future proof" BD Player. It also has exceptional upscaling of SD-DVD, BT based remotes (which I dig on, sick of LOS IR) and starts up quickly.
The S300 which is Sony's cheapest player is around $329-399. So for practically the same price you get everything else.
This of course assumes you want to buy/rent BD, have a TV that will make a big difference with HD.
The extra positive side effect of a 50GB optical drive coming +standard+ is that game designers have far more content/code space available - this means (if it's utilized) more maps, levels, better textures, more/longer in-game video, etc.
To be honest, everything else to me is sort of a wash: the PS3 and XBOX will share a decent number of the same titles, will each have exclusives that are interesting, and at least in the short term, will have comparable graphics.
I was also a little put off by the overall service-life with the 360 - I know new MB's, smaller/cooler CPU's, etc., etc., but I still factored it in.
I also have no doubts that the PS3 is not close to its ultimate capabilities (and certainly isn't helped by multi-platform titles) - no doubts as in the "inside dope" from some friends on mine in the industry and my own [humble] understanding of the architecture.
The PS3 has some nice media services too (which are mirrored on the 360), but as a "single box" home entertainment device it's pretty amazing. I recently converted some HD video using a H264 CODEC and dropped it into the PS3 and it looked amazing. I'm also connecting to a WMP 11 and using the PS3 to browse videos, images, MP3s from a central media server here at the homestead.

In my opinion, I would get a PS3. I'm not a fanboy of any console, and I own all 3. The PS3 has all the best games that 360 has, plus it has much better exclusives. It's also taking over 360 as the console to produce games first for by third party developers.
Also, one very very big reason: Metal Gear Solid 4. That's an amazing game, I've played the online Beta and it kicks ass.
PS3 is just more advanced than the 360, and while the 360 had a much better headstart, the PS3 will fly by it in the years to come. Sorry 360, but I view you as just a transition box. My 360 is burnt and can play burned games as well.
All in all I'm happier with my PS3 than my 360.

Again, it comes down to exclusives. PS3 wins hands down in my opinion. Sure, the 360 has Halo, and Gears, but the PS3 has Resistance, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 Prolouge, and 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online, SOCOM Confrontation, Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet, HOME, Warhawk, MotorStorm, Motorstorm 2, Final Fantasy 13, etc.
There's just too many great games coming in the future, to list them all. Plus you get a Blu Ray Player at a very cheap price, and free online. LIVE may be better, but the PSN is still growing.
Not many people mention this, but you have the Playstation Eye, and you can do pretty cool things with it such as play video poker and have chats with friends.
So, I'd say PS3, but if Halo and Gears mean the world to you, go ahead. But you might get the RROD.

^ I bought that, I wish I only rented it. It's good for one play-through, but that's it.
In my opinion, Gears of War sucks. But that's just my opinion, don't say anything about it. Halo is a great game though. But it's not worth buying the system for. Especially not compared to the PS3 lineup. The PS3 is the console that will come on top in the future for powerful gaming.

True, Skippy, thanks for the correction. Uncharted is amazing. I can't believe I forgot that!!
ZeroLazar, you match my opinions perfectly. I hate Gears, but like Halo. Again, it's not worth spending $330 on. I hope the gaming industry opens their eyes in the future and sees all of the great games the PS3 will have.
