I'm actually really looking forward to Killzone 2, and it's someone's opinion if they think it's better than Gears 2. It actually has to potential to do so anyway.
I do admit, they they're extreme fanboys however, but I still have very high hopes for this game.

yeah killzone seems to look reallllyyy smooth but honestly doesnt seem to have much detail in the environment and characters. maybe its just becuase i havent seen enough but it makes since that killzone2 would have to lack somewhere in the graphics compartment for looking that good and being a somewhat fast paced shooter.

KZ2 is using a newer, more Cell optimized engine than the U3 tech being used in GOW2 - I wouldn't doubt it would have an edge.
KZ2 is doing some beautiful stuff with finely detailed TM's and particle/lighting physics, some of the level details are amazing - GOW2 has lots of complex models interacting (the flying squid-oids are awesome).
It's my understanding that the gameplay mechanics are a good bit different anyway. They both really date the Halo 3 engine though! It's amazing the jump in tech in less than a year.

Meh... I'll be getting both games, both look amazing to me. Graphics look great on both games. I'm guessing I'll like Gears 2 most, because I loved the first one, apart from it being an extremely short game. Hopefully it'll be longer this time. But Killzone 2 will be brilliant

True, I think KZ2 is a more fast paced game. Also so far every PS3 game that looks really good on screenshots have been looking just like every other game in person. For example MGS4 and Haze look just like anything on 360.
