Some advice, Cappin', would want to invest in dusk balls when you get a chance to buy them. Better than an ultra ball. Works best in the evenings/nighttime.
EDIT: lol, i'm at 444:44 in my time on Pearl.

Timer balls. Thats it, timer balls rock.
Duskballs are kinda awsome, however for the good legendary battles...
Infact, let me post you some catch rates to keep in mind
Ultra ball
2x
Net Balls
If bug or water type 3x
Timer Balls
If the number of turns that have passed is:
* Between 1 and 9, 1×;
* Between 10 and 19, 2×;
* Between 20 and 29, 3×;
* More than 30, 4×.
Dusk Ball
In the dark or at night 4x
Quick Ball
Starts at 4x, and for every 5 turns in battle,
the capture rate decreases by 1x.

Ultra balls suck...
I noticed that when I wasted 10 ultra balls on Heatran, and had 1 great ball and 1 dive ball
Used the dive ball, got 3 rocks
used the great ball, caught him

Who is heatran?
(I have no idea of the new pokemon)
All I know is 2nd and first gen, rayquazza, some 3rd and small amount of current.

Yes, but you dont need it.
Yes, some legendaries are difficult to catch, (ex:Azelf, Uxie, Regigigas, and Giratina.)
You'r best bet is still dusk balls IMO.
