I've been nicknaming my pokemon their Romaji names... so basically things like Turtwig being Naetoru and Pikachu being Pikachuu and Mew being Myuu

I been doing the same on a few pokes, such as naming salamence broomanda, but then I do the same with other forgein languages such as charizard it's French name Dracafeu [fire dragon], things like that.

I used to be the same way, Adam. Now, I only nickname them to tell the EV trained pokes appart from the normal pokes.

It also sort of becomes a trade mark to a preconceived identity of that Pokemon, if not just part of the joke.

Candygram, my infamous garchomp, is a direct reference to a Saturday Night Live skit (the landshark)...

I rarely nickname my pokes... and usually to identify their specific team I designed, i.e. my Trick room team is all nicknamed in a pattern.
