I've always wondered, is there any major difference between paper mario and the other normal Mario games? Or is it basically played the exact same way only it's like >_> 2D

well super paper mario went back to being like super mario but with rpg style gameplay aswell

So if your not that much into turn-based RPG and like instant action RPG and classic platformer you will love SPM .
I honestly hate paper mario but i love SPM so..its up to you game preference.

Paper Mario was, without exception, the 2nd best game I ever played in my life.
Super Paper Mario was just kind of average...
I prefer the full-fledged 3-D and turn based fighting system of an RPG that Paper Mario had, as opposed to only one catch in SPM: You can flip between 2-D and 3-D, but even then, not for long.

This was a dramatic turn in the Paper Mario Series, which was more than just a supermario spinoff, but practicly an alternate series. The last two were RPGs, while this one sorta brings back a little gameplay from the original.
