Tournaments and Controllers

Does anybody know from melee or even now if your allowed to bring modded controllers to a tournament? (I just want to take the springs out of L and R out)

Most Melee tournaments banned them. In fact, every Melee tournament I've seen or been to banned them. I don't see why Brawl tournaments would be any different.
Obviously online you are free to use what you want.

Thats true, but do you think your atleast allowed to bring your own controller instead of using the wiimote/nunchuk/classic?

What type of tournaments are you talking about?
Official Nintendo tournaments require use of the Wiimote.

word of advice on wii mote and nunchuck if you have to use them in your tourney. set a to special and down on the d pad to attack. b button jumps and just sheild grab everytime. in my experience this feels most like cube controllers.

Oh im talking about MLG and Pro Evo tournaments. It seems fair to let people pick their control scheme since they are more used to it as apposed to forcing everyone to using wiimotes?

It stinks that official Nintendo tournaments require you to use the wiimote, I play much better with the GC controller. I don't think modded controllers will EVER be allowed into official tournaments though.
