I watched one guy get 3k on replay of the day solo. He used Samus's down kick plus he kept dropping the bat. The punching bag didn't move an inch as the player did insane dmg. The real key is to do massive dmg while keeping the bag where it is. Try jumping up and down over the bag while dropping and picking up the bat. Throw in some mid air kicks if possible.
My best is 2k. I really haven't bothered with it once I got all the trophies for it.
My highest combo I think was 420 with Shiek. You will probably need the stage editor for this. Wall, continous attack, hard to knock out character.
