Does anyone know anything about Nintendo's plans to improve online gameplay and service (that is, more realistic options offered to enhance gameplay and convenience) for, specifically, SSBB?
Even if the lag issue is resolved--which has not been to any noticeable degree yet--we still have the big inconvenience issue. If online play is to be offered, it should not only offer enough service to get a game going. We are given the bare minimum to just get a game going--lack of laggy games and playing a game how we want to is not part of the deal. We are given the minimum, so as long as we get to play, a 2-minute KO is the only game we are allowed to play with anyone, and it could last 5 minutes (don't you just hate those games that lag severely and you can't even quit out of them because of it??) But we get to play, right? And that's whats important! This is not like a cell phone where we get a whole bunch of extra features to get the phone to sell. These online features and services are demands to play properly and to maximize the entertainment. Little steps could be taken to improve our gameplay greatly, so why has it not been done yet?
Please inform me if you know anything; I have not checked any updates as of right now, I'm a little behind. Please litter this thread with what you can find about the upcoming updates or improvements to the game. Thanks.
You can also leave your opinion on this issue here if you would like, though there are probably threads on this already. Feel free though!

besides fixing lag nothing else will change. its really sad that probably the most well known game for the wii is stuck with the next to worst online system.

If Brawl had a better online (which I will define in a moment), then I think Wii owners will stop going to school/work.
Brawl Wifi needs (without totally dismantling and rebuilding the total Wifi service, and also excluding anything and everything to do with FRIEND CODES AND COMMUNICATION) :
-To be Lag-free (Give us some better servers damnit, or let us host our own.)
-Support for custom maps, or at the bare minimum the Stage of the Day.
-Total makeover of With Friends / With Anyone. *
-Additional downloadable content, to be payed for. (This isn't necessary, but it would be nice.)
-A ranking system.
-More game modes/options. (2 minute rounds only for everything doesn't cut it, and no 1 vs 1 bites too.)
-Show online names when With Anyone.
* : As I see it, the two options we have are to either:
Revamp With Anyone/With Friends way of playing (Bad way), OR
Merge them both into a mainstream online matchmaking system. (Party/Lobby style would be the simplest and most effective, whereas you invite friends to join your party, and then either stay and play against each other/computers, or go to matchmaking to face other players.). You could pick the game mode that relates to how many members are in your party (FFA if you have up to 3, TFFA if you have 1 or 2, Duel if you're by yourself, etc etc.)
Anyways I've wrote too much and this is just a wishlist that Nintendo should have done in the first place, and probably will never do, so I'm done. YOU RUINED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST GAME EVER CREATED. Lmfao.

It would be so much better if they would allow Stock matches in the With Anyone mode. I also think that some kind of rating system should be added; Nintendo could use a points system like the ones in Tetris DS or MKDS. Oh, and they need to eliminate all online lag. I've had some matches where the game lagged about 5 seconds, but not all the time. Most of the time there isn't too much lag.

Hey guys I'm back! I noticed that there were SOME slight improvements to the online play, like the addition of "Stage" option for the setup. At least we know that Nintendo is capable of making change and bringing about reform to online.
I pretty much agree with you, Zerolazar. Let's just hope that something good comes out of the best multiplayer, best-selling game for the Nintendo console, Wii. Barely anyone is interested in online in that game now, the interest levels have been reduced sharply.

the only thing that puzzles me is why would nintendo focus so much more on online for mario kart wii (which is great) but, for such a huge anticipated game like brawl give so little... im not trying to knock ssbb because its live but i would rather wait an extra month for a better online experience. (just my opinion)
