I definately agree with the first two, and I can definately see those happening. With the Pay to Play, they could defend the lack of FC's and voice chat by stating that if parents don't want their kids doing that stuff, don't pay for it.

Still why not just set up parental security stuff regarding VC and FC's in an update? The Parental Controls are already there, and the VC thing would be easy to implement (not so much the FC thing though).

However, I doubt the last three will ever happen. Also, aren't we paying on a game-by-game basis? If that's the case, why should we expect the Mii Plaza thing or the DLC stuff? Unless those also have their own separate fee system.

Anyway, this quote about Nintendo and HDD's is hilarious:

“'Let’s make the least technologically advanced console even more archaic!'”

I wonder if the whole hard drive thing isnt so much an issue about hard drive itself but rather what is needed on the Wii, drivers, software, etc. The Wii only has that measly 512mb on board storage space.

What if say after everything needed to get external HD's available there is only 200mb space left. Well, this would have to be a system update, so either everyone gets it or they cant do it. That means those that are not planning on getting an external HD are now limited to 200mb of local space.

This example is probably a big stretch as I dont see needing 300mb for an external drive to get operational, but you never know what exactly they need, especially if they planned for 512mb to be enough permanantly (why?)

Despite the claims made about compressed files or whatever for WiiWare, a hard drive is needed. There is still so much else that takes up room, channels, games etc.

But, the others really are not much of a big deal to me. Although Voice Chat would be nice, friend codes or no friend codes, it doesn't really matter to me.

You've never played online games outside of the Wii, have you? For some reason, I really doubt it.
