A few questions

Hi there,
I'm a Nintendo newbie with a few questions. I'm planning on picking up a Wii, but I'm confused about some things. Number one, do I absolutely have to have it hooked up to the Internet, and if so, how? And number two, what accesseories do I need to take advantage of the Virtual Console and download games? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

No, an internet connection is not compulsory although it will allow you to play games online and download games from previous consoles amoungst other things.
