If you are refering to the option in your profile to add the Wii username then yes, It is refering to the Wii's console nickname. This option has not turned up to be useful at all, but that is what the spot is for on the forum here. Its possible this will be used once online gaming is available.

You can change the name.... or not.

But if someone adds you they dont have to put that name. No one seems to know what the purpose of being able to name your Wii is.
