I need help in the study/library

I can't find the 3 books to put on the shelf. Was there something I needed to do before they appeared? I am completely stuck. I looked on the chairs in the library and on the table under the map and nothing is there. they are not in my inventory. Please help, I can't leave a game unfinished.
