Hi,
I just bought a Wii for my son on a business trip in Hong Kong.
I was told it was a Japanese version.
My problem is I live in Canada and it is not in English. Is there a
menu to change it to English?
Also will it play North American games?
It would not play a game from my sons Gamecube.

Please help.

ok to start with you can change language at start ,cant remember how to though
and sorry but the consile is region locked meaning that you cant play games that are from say america if you bought your console in asia
Really sorry mate but i think there is a mod or something that you get put in it to break the region lock its illegal though.

So basically I bought a very expensive door stop!
I guess I have to wait like everyone else here, they haven't
had them in stores for months. The stores say they will
have them,in a couple of months.

You're right (thewiirules123) I didn't know that.
But then I realized DVDs are encoded by region.
However how does me making a modification to
a console make it illegal?I could understand if
I were to resell it,but for personal use? That
doesn't make sense.

I wonder if Nintendo would exchange it? Probably not, but it's a suggestion?

I'm not quite sure why it's illegal, but I really hate region locking... Why do they do it? I haven't thought of a good reason for region locking consoles.
