Oh man, the number of hours I spent playing that system...

Game technology today has spoiled kids. I didn't grow up with Zelda, I had Adventure. You were a square that moved around. You could get a sword that looked like an arrow. There were dragons that looked like ducks. If you knew what you were doing, you could finish the game in 10 to 15 minutes (that's on the harder level where the item locations are randomized and there are three castles). Did you hear me complain? No way! I still pourd hours into that game!

I found this video on YouTube. It's an entire walkthrough of game 1 of Adventure. It's 33 seconds long - that's right, you can finish the easiest version of the game in half a minute!

And a previous poster mentioned Yar's Revenge. A true classic!
    Here's the commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ1Qg-Ny75g
(and people think Wii commercials are silly!)

Oh man, don't get me started or I'll spend all day here talking about old Atari games!

Im currntly learning to code on a bbc micro.
I like good gameplay (not as in the "actual gameplay" things I see on addverts as that is not gameplay) in my games
    Fine by me

And all you young whipper snappers out there with Wii Sports Boxing - check this out. We didn't have anything fancy like that, we had Boxing from Activision and we loved! You would not believe the heated matches against my uncles.

    Hours of fun!

And to connect this back to Nintendo, here's Mario Bros. for the 2600 from Nintendo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liZ-yuCzyTc
I didn't actually have that one. I did have Atari 2600 Donkey Kong though (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UVWbF1XE74) , and then later the ColecoVision version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yDWuhkHHpw) which blew it away.

What I find interesting too is that a lot of old Atari 2600 sound effects still turn up fairly frequently. Like sometimes on TV shows where someone is supposed to be playing a game and you can't see it, the sounds are almost always from 260 games, sometimes more than one game sound layered on top of each other.
