Beijing 2008 - how to beat sonic?

Hi, i have the beijing game, im currently on the missions, we finished all 5 got a * next tot hem, then it unlocked the 100m where you have to beat sonic

this guy is like a rocket... even coming second im at least 2 seconds behind him, how is it possible?

Basically, you need a good rocket start and then quick movement with wiimote and nunchuk.
