Blazing Angles Photo Recon

Just started playing Blazing Angles. After leaving the carrier, I can't seem to take pics of ships. The camera grid turns green and I've tried every combo I could thing of using the secondary fire button, but nothing works.....I eventually get timed out.

I remeber doing this before.
I think you gotta get the correct altitude and enough distance between you and the ship.

Do you remember if it's high or low? I've tried all angles and even tried landing on the deck.
