So whats everyone reading right now? (if you read).
And what would be your recommendations on a good read be?

I'm reading "The Runes of the Earth" - by Stephen Donaldson. Last in the "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant".

I'd recommend "Incompetence" By Rob Grant - Funniest book I've ever read.

*For a guy who reads so much I've just noticed I've mis-spelled the title of this thread *

Rob Grant - didnt he write the Red Dwarf books too? I loved them :)

I dont get time to read much fiction these days, just general user manuals and the like instead :(

The last book I read was Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve.
I am also excited about Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials books being turned into films. :)
I highly recommend checking out both authors.

Yeah! He was a writer for the tv series too.

He's written red dwarf books along with Doug Naylor (think thats his name)
"Last Human", and "Backwards".

"Colony" - "Incompetence" - and "Fat", are his own 3 books. All are great, the humor is on par with Red dwarfs.

Currently reading Insomnia by Stephen King. Not very good so far.

I recommend Catch 22 (author?) The English Patient by Micheal Ondaatje and anything by Neil Gaiman is good.

No wonder it sucks. Its by Stephen King

And Catch 22 is an all time classic - Of the variety your high-school English teacher will have you reading. Its by Joseph Heller

Just finished 'bloodtide' by Melvin Burgess, very good book :)

Yeah like pras said the Philip Pullman books are good, a nice read.

I am currently looking for a good Tom Clancy novel, any recomendations for one?

I read some Sas books by Andy McNab they are quite good.

I also used to read books by the author Darren Shan and they were very interesting.

Also the Anthony Horowitz books are a good read

 good film:)

Have you read any of the books that possibly our GCSE students would read like macbeth, romeo and juliet or war of the worlds or to kill a mocking bird or do you swing towards more darren shan, stormbreaker type stuff?

We have to read stormbreak at the moment and I'm like Gah, can we read a decent book?

I used to read Darren shan
I was about twelve to thirteen then but now I like the Andy McNab books because he writes about his SAS experiences and they are really worth a read.

A book you may read in you're GCSE'S may be Cell by steven King

I enjoyed the darren shan books, good reads but I found some bits a little strange.

Every read the trilogy by darren shan starting with lord loss?

that book has a gory beginning, he walks in to find his parents and sister being ripped apart and such. Lovely. . .
