I've only seen about one person touch type, and that's the Asian girl in my IT class.

I think my whole school can touch type. (Or at least close to my whole school) But, I live in a relatively rich town so we can afford all of those computers so that people can learn.

We had a keyboarding class in Junior High and have an optional one in High School...

I knew how before then, but it helped a lot.

Yeah, our class was mandatory. You had to pass the exact same program at better speeds and accuracy in 4th, 6th, and 7th grades. It was so freaking boring.

Does being able to touch type have to be done with the correct fingers on the correct keys?

I don't do that, I can type without looking at the keys though, but I don't put my fingers on where your meant to when you touch type properly.. thinking about it.. I think I put my fingers on all the ones above the ones your meant to, I never really realized.

My aunty has been trained to touch type professionally and it's insane. She has a proper full-length conversation with me (she's even looking at me) while she's typing something on her laptop which is like work related, it's so cool.
