Capcom have this week been showing gameplay footage of Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi’s new game, Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes at their Captivate event in Hawaii. They’ve also released lots of new screenshots for you to feast your eyes on. The Nintendo Wii game, which represents the next evolution in the BASARA series, is set during a tumultuous period in Japanese history, giving players the opportunity to fight their way to the dramatic battle of Sekigahara. During the course of the game, you’ll get the chance to take up the swords and spears of more than a dozen fierce samurai warriors and wield them in huge battles against hundreds of enemies leading up to the main event.

Featuring unique playable characters, as well as supporting generals who will help you to command and lead armies, the game enables players to see the battle from the perspective of each military commander, with the ultimate goal of re-writing history and ruling all of 16th century Japan.

Look for the game to be released for the Wii at some point in 2010.
