Classic controller functionality? Wiiremote question?

Hi,

I want a Classic Controller to play Virtual Console games and my question is will the classic controller have the same functionality as the numchuk?

ie can i use it for wii sports boxing instead of the numchuk?

Also if I buy an offical new Wiimote do i get a numchuk with it?
