Very nice find. The component cables are very much worth buying.

Component cables "work" if you have component inputs. Check your TV. With the old-fashioned "tube" screens, I believe you'd see improved picture.

You wouldn't get the progressive scanning; that's for screens that support that feature.

if anyone is going to buy them i think u shud go for ones with gold connection as thats the best way for a connection(GOLD) as its the best conductor. the official component cable is gd but u will get better graphics with an unofficial cable with gold connections. like the blaze one

Well my tv doesn't have that input but the Amplifier has it, will it work if I plug it into my Amp ?

Thanks, I don't want to spend 40$ for nothing

I had a 26" square mono telly. Then ordered wii. I bought a new cheap Widescreen stereo telly 28" at the same time. Wii came after I got the new telly, so I hadn't thought about graphics being better or worse or seen any difference, but after actually seeing that link at the top, i can understand now that the old telly would have been crap, and I wouldn't have realised.

Still haven't looked at wii on old telly, not much need to now.

Mind asking why your signature is your comp's specs ?
Seriously nobody gives a damn on a Wii forum man.

FYI , composites cables are 480I , while component goes 480P on the Wii (components can go up to 1080P on other devices) .

the I and the P are for the picture refreshments . so , technically , there's not suppoed to be a difference when you take a PICTURE of the game . but when you PLAY it , it's a lot more fluid , as the pictures refreshments are progressive (P) , instead of interlaced (I)

gold plated stuff is only for the signal , and it's not better when it's new . gold doesn,t degrade over time . so the image will stay perfect as long as you have the gold plated cables . the metal ones will wear (cuz of the electric signal) and the image will be less precise .

The only way to see a real difference between a gold plated and a regular cable , both new , would be to take a 200' cable of each , and see what it's like when you change them.

I am using component cables on a non-HDTV. It does make a difference even then, colours are sharper and generally the picture looks better. Probably not worth running out and paying $50 (Aust) for them though for an Interlaced TV (I got them for $10 though through KMART as they were incorrectly priced and had to give them to me for that amount - then they're worth it).

Only negitive I have with them though is that Zelda OoT (GC Version) doesn't look as good - its too sharp and the textures just don't look that good that way.

When I got my cables the $60 (which I returned a month later LOL, I much rather get the $25 ones) I really didn't notice a HUGE difference.. until I noticed the mask Midna wears, if you look at the one without component, you can barely tell that there is any markings at all on it (very blurry/smudged like)... But when I changed it to component cables, it was crystal clear, I never noticed the details before...

Component makes a huge difference, maybe not at first, but if you look closely, the colors and sharpness increase dramatically. Zelda looks a hell of a lot better.

    - I play on a Sony 40inch HDTV LCD Widescreen brand new ( with incredible quality picture, thats where my $2.5k went for Christmas  )

In my opinion get the cables if you have an EDTV or HDTV... Its worth it, specially for $25
