Dbz Help!

Every time I go to try and fuse 2 items in ZItem Fusion, King Kai says "You lack the item fusion numbers". My question is, how do I get more of these item fusion numbers? I figured as I progressed through the story mode, I would accumulate more, but that's not it.

you go to the shop and buy z fusion items, or something like that, you'll see them in the shop under the purple ball secton. I think there called z fusion items, if not it's something close to that

No I have the Z Fusion Items just not enough points to perform any fusions.
