dead rising question

this is driving me nuts, when i 'examine' food in my inventory is says i can use it as a mixer, how in the world do i mix stuff?
i assume i combine it with the protein but for the life of me i cannot figure out how to do it, i have gone to the end of the internet, cant find an answer, it was easy and straight forward combining things in re4 wii but man
i know it has GOT to be something simple that my frustration is causing me to overlook, i have 3 proteins and am at level 21
i assume combining food with protein makes the shakes that i randomly get that eithe rkill me or give me more max health

Never mind I happened to spot a blender, have like 5 hours in the game and never noticed a blender, now i see em all over
