death note question (SPOILERS from volume 2-3)

hi everyone, been watching death note, and it's an absolutely fantastic anime series, but I have a question about Light Yagami.

Spoiler

After he relinquishes ownership of the deathnote, what has he got to do with the rest of the series? and what is the deal with this Yotsuba business company?

You don't need to tell me how the series finishes or anything, but does Light take ownership of another death note? or is he innocent for the rest of the series?
