Do I have a demo?

Can anyone help me? Last night, we opened our Wii and were unable to get it started. Once the console is hooked up we get the message that we need to insert the start up disk. Well, I've seen no mention of the existence of this disk in the manual.

I also want to verify an info I got off the Net to the effect that these consoles were not intended to be sold but were shipped prior to the Wii release as demos for the store and that they do not work.

maby enter the wii sports disc. it make have some stuff on it.

ok according to the nintendo website you need to send the console to them for repairs or take it back to the shop you bought it from. hope this helps
