Do Japanese wiimotes work with American wii?

wondering the same thing myself. I live in Japan and have a ton of friends back home who want Wiimotes, nunchucks, and other accessories. I want to buy them and ship them to them, but it'd be pointless if there was some region lock they put on accessories as well.

well remembre that these wiimotes might have somekind of code in them, assuming u can carry miis in them, the wii would search (sync) for it, the n recognize, then it might ask "are u an american wiimote?" and the wiimote would say "ME TO SPEAKY ENGLISH! HURRY UP N BUY! 2 DOLLAR!..ME LOVE U LONG TIME!"...then the wii would be like "...dude..like...whateveerrrrr"

haha alright? I'm of Asian descent, and thats a bit racist. I have a decent sense of humor but some other people on the forum might not be so cool with that. Just a heads up.

going to try my Japanese wiimote with my friends American wii when he gets back from the US. I'll post the results here.
