If you read the article you would know it says you compete, meaning actually play against others.

I don't care about the game either, but I like that 3rd parties are going to see some online action This year. Many have long predicted good online participation in 2008, but there's always a lingering question in such predictions...Early 2008 or late? The earlier the better. IGN lists this title as coming out this November. More power to them.
