Honestly one of the best games out for Wii is Wii Sports.
I know its weird to say so... but when I got my Wii I spent about 5 minutes playing Twilight Princess, and then 4 hours playing Wii Sports.
Lucky for you it comes with your Wii! :crazy:
As for the first Purchased game, it all comes down to personal preference.

Sports Games - Super Mario Strikers
Fighting Games - Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Action - No More Heroes
Adventure - Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess
First Person Shooter - Metroid Prime 3
Party Game - Mario Party 8
etc. etc. the list can go on and on...
If you only have the choice of one game though, I put more than 40 hours into Twilight Princess, and I didn't even get everything in the game. Not to mention the fact that the game itself is beautifully done.
One thing I can recommend is to buy Wii Play at some point. It comes with a controller (which is its main selling point) but the games themselves are actually very fun. And my brother and I have spent hours playing the various games.
So those are my recommendations, take'em or leave'em.
