theres no confusion about it, metroid is a shooter, you do a LOT of shooting in it so it must be a shooter, nintendo probably just wants to keep a "kid-friendly" tag on it.Squall7 said:None that are really good so far.
In terms of what's available, if he doesn't mind single player shooters, there's Metroid (not specifically a shooter, although is often confused for one). Or there is Medal of Honor Heroes 2 coming out. That's set to be the best so far. Timesplitters 4 is on the cards, but nowhere near a release.
...It's true that stylistically it's a shooter, but the fact that it's more of an "adventure game" (what with it also having morph-ball mode, and more importantly, lots and lots of stuff to explore, more than just level design).Sovieto said:theres no confusion about it, metroid is a shooter, you do a LOT of shooting in it so it must be a shooter, nintendo probably just wants to keep a "kid-friendly" tag on it.
uh huh its a teen game but how many kids do you think that stops from getting this game?Squall7 said:...It's true that stylistically it's a shooter, but the fact that it's more of an "adventure game" (what with it also having morph-ball mode, and more importantly, lots and lots of stuff to explore, more than just level design).
Oh, and Metroid is a "Teen" game, and therefore not designed for "kiddies" in the first place (unless you count Teens as Kiddies, in which case, I'm pretty sure you're labelling yourself as a kid).
Well, in the UK, it's technically illegal to sell a game below it's certification, so it will stop kids in the UK.Sovieto said:uh huh its a teen game but how many kids do you think that stops from getting this game?

They are suitability ratings, not necessarily saying its for kids/teens.Squall7 said:Well, in the UK, it's technically illegal to sell a game below it's certification, so it will stop kids in the UK.
Regardless, it's beside the point. Nintendo aren't targetting this at below a "teen" level. It's like saying that Manhunt 2 and Resident Evil 5 is targetted at kids.

It's rated for a teen in the US.

It's rated 12+ in the UK (pretty much a teen).
