oh and to add, if you click your own little green mushroom, it tells you how many total points you have, and how many you've gotten on that post you clicked the mushroom on

That's not what Sov is talking about. A n00b isn't going to have enough rep to make whatever rep he/she gives count.

I think its over a certain amount of posts or when you have been given rep once.

I think 5 is a bit high to be honest, your probably right tho.
